Una serie di immagini allegoriche che interpretano attraverso la sensazione una visione contemporanea del mondo sotterraneo al di sotto ed al di sopra della testa, come schegge impazzite la deflagrazione dello spazio temporale si fa espressione contemporanea, ogni immagine è collegata è avulsa dall’immagine che la precede o che la anticipa, è un mosaico delirante che raccoglie un’insieme di lembi strappati e reinventati dalle leggende oscure che avvolgono da sempre la Sicilia ed in particolar modo la città di Palermo.
Non è una ricerca lineare ma un bisogno ossessivo di entrare oltre il visibile, oltre il percepibile, di comprendere e di esprimere attraverso gesti segni e simboli un modo di essere che da secoli scivola tormentato tra le fessure delle “Balate” delle città.
Le fotografie del progetto sono dei moderni ex voto che nel tempo hanno trasformato il proprio linguaggio aspirando oggi alla ricerca di una nuova cultura espressiva distante anni luce dal presunto reale.
Un modo differente di raccontare privo di una linea temporale e di un apparente soggetto principale, è un insieme di ritagli dell’anima visti da vicino ed il più delle volte decontestualizzati e strappati alla loro contemporaneità ma iconizzati prima ancora di essere simboli, una ricerca del tempo perduto senza tempo, attraverso la sensazione e l’idea che un determinato istante può far tornare a galla.

A series of allegorical images that aim to render, through perceptions, a contemporary vision of the world beneath our feet and on top of our heads.
Like crazy fragments, the deflagration of space and time becomes an actual expression. Each image is interrelated and detached from the previous image;
it is a frantic patchwork that gathers a collection of reinvented torn pieces, taken from the obscure legends surrounding Sicily and in particular the city of Palermo.
It is not a linear research, but an obsessive need of transcending the visible, the perceptible, in order to understand and express through gestures, signs and symbols, a way of being, that for centuries has been characterizing and tormenting the city.
The photographs of the project are modern ‘ex voto’ that over time, have transformed their language aiming for a research of a new contemporary expressive culture, light-years away from the alleged reality.
It is a different way of telling, stripped from a timeline and from an hypothetical main character. It is a set of soul cut-outs seen up-close, and in most of the occasions they are decontextualized and deprived from their coincidence in time.
They are icons before being symbols, in a search of lost time but without time, through the feeling and the idea that just a defined instant can bring back to life.
